THE
CONSTITUTION
OF
ZETA CHI ZETA ALUMNI
ASSOCIATION, INC.
September 1992
We, the brothers of Zeta Chi Zeta Alumni Association Inc.,
in order to advance the ideals of “Strength in Brotherhood”, contribute to
excellence in scholarship, encourage purposeful living, peace and unity amongst
the Brothers, and establish better understanding between the Alumni and current
brothers of the Zeta Chi Zeta Fraternity, Inc. at State University College at
Oswego, New York, do hereby ordain and institute this constitution for guidance
in our conduct; and therefore accept without reservation the authority of this
document in all proceedings.
ARTICLE
1
NAME AND INSIGNIA
The Association shall be known as “Zeta Chi Zeta Alumni Association
Inc.”
The colors of the
Zeta Chi Zeta Alumni Association, Inc. shall be navy blue and columbia
blue.
The crest of the Zeta Chi Zeta Alumni Association, Inc. shall be designed about a shield. This shield shall be outlined with a narrow
gold border on all sides. A band of white shall extend diagonally from top
right to the bottom left, with a narrow gold border also on all sides. Centered on the diagonal strip will be the letters “Zeta”, “Chi”, “Zeta”,”Alumni”,
in navy blue Roman capitals. The upper
left portion of the shield will be done in
navy blue and the lower right portion will be done in
columbia blue. A white Olympian torch,
streaked with navy blue, shall be in the bottom right portion of the
shield. There will be a flame atop the
torch which shall consist of a series of orange, yellow and red streaks. Extending around the flame there will be
rays of light done in the same colors as the flame. In the upper left hand part of the shield there shall be a white
dove flecked with navy blue streaking.
This dove shall be perched with wings extended, upon a book. This open book shall be white. Below the shield there will appear a white
banner bordered on each side with a narrow gold border. Inscribed on the banner will be the words
“Strength in Brotherhood”. These
letters will be in navy blue Roman capitols. White is the color symbolizing
faith and hope. Gold denotes strength
and fortitude. Columbia blue and navy
blue symbolize Fraternal Harmony. The
olympian torch stands for athletics.
The flame atop the torch represents unity. The dove is symbolic of peace and harmony. The book denotes knowledge and obedience.
“Strength in Brotherhood” is the motto of Zeta Chi Zeta Alumni Association,
Inc. and it is representative of the beliefs of its Brotherhood.
All brothers of the Zeta Chi Zeta Fraternity, Inc. of the
State University College at Oswego, New York, regardless of race, color, creed
or ethnic origin, are eligible for membership in Zeta Chi Zeta Alumni
Association, Inc., provided they can comply with these rules.
An active member is one in good standing who has made a
contribution to the alumni cause as deemed appropriate by the Alumni Chairman,
and is no longer an enrolled student at the college. He shall have no delinquent financial obligations to Zeta Chi
Zeta Fraternity, Inc., and shall have met all other requirements for good
standing.
An inactive member is one who is an alumnus, but has made no
contribution, either financially or in service as deemed appropriate by the
Alumni Chairman.
Any former member of Zeta Chi Zeta Fraternity no longer
registered, as an undergraduate at the State University College at Oswego and
whose most active membership in Zeta Chi Zeta Fraternity, Inc., was of good
standing shall be a Zeta Chi Zeta Alumnus.
ARTICLE
III
ALUMNI ADVISORY COUNCIL
The Alumni Advisory Council shall be made up of the Alumni
Chairman, and two active alumni brothers whom are permanently positioned. When a replacement is required, the Alumni
Chairman will appoint such member to the position. All power and authority of
the corporation shall be vested in the Alumni Advisory Council and the
committees thereof. The Alumni Chairman has authority for all monetary
transactions. If the Alumni Chairman requires replacement as deemed by the
unanimous vote of the council, a general election will be held with candidates
being nominated by the current council.
The term of office of all advisory council members shall be
permanent.
ARTICLE
IV
MEETINGS
OF ALUMNI ADVISORY COUNCIL
The Advisory Council shall hold meetings when deemed
appropriate by the Alumni Chairman.
These meetings need not be in person.
The Alumni Chairman may solicit the opinion and advice of the council
members by any means of communication and act accordingly.
ARTICLE
V
OFFICERS
The 0fficers of Zeta Chi Zeta Alumni Association, Inc. shall
be the Alumni Chairman and two council members who act in an advisory
role. These three members make up the
Advisory Council.
Election for Alumni Chairman only occurs when current Alumni
Chairman resigns. At that point the nomination of candidates will come from the
Advisory Council and a general election will be held.
ARTICLE
VI
AMENDMENTS
This Constitution can be amended by the Alumni Chairman or a unanimous vote of the Advisory Council, provided that the proposed amendment has been submitted in writing to the Advisory Council.
